Class 12 Board Exams: CBSE may conduct examinations only for major subjects

EXAMS only for major subjects

The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE), which announced Wednesday that board exams will be conducted in 29 subjects, has said that they will include only those that are important for Class 12. It added that exams on regional languages will not be held.

For Class 10, there will be no exams across the country, except for riot-hit Northeast Delhi.Exams will not be held in regional languages such as Punjabi, Gujarati, Tamil, Telugu, Bengali, among others.  The decision on the exams was taken on the advice of HRD minister Ramesh Pokhriyal ‘Nishank’. The minister on Wednesday tweeted that due to the Covid-19 situation and keeping in mind the future of the students, he had advised the CBSE to conduct exams for only 29 main subjects that are required for promotion and admission to colleges.

However, Pallavi Upadhyaya, Principal, DPS-RNE Ghaziabad, said the digital divide has to be kept in mind before deciding on an alternative mode of assessment.

“Board exams for class 12 are not an independently managed examination. It involves several factors which need due time and consideration before being subjected to any change.
